Effective Date: April 22, 2026

App Name: Qanit / قانت

Contact: basilvisuals@gmail.com

Qanit / قانت (“Qanit,” “the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a prayer-focused productivity app designed to help Muslims stay consistent with daily prayers by showing prayer times, sending reminders, tracking prayer completion, and optionally helping users reduce distractions by blocking selected apps during prayer windows.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Qanit may collect, how it is used, and the choices you have.

By using Qanit, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Qanit is designed to collect only the information needed to provide its features.

A. Location Information

Qanit may request access to your device location to calculate prayer times based on your area. Depending on your iOS settings, this may include approximate or precise location. Location is used to calculate prayer times and related reminders. You can change or disable location permission at any time in your device settings.

B. Prayer Tracking Information

Qanit may store prayer-related status information, such as whether a prayer was marked as completed, missed, or excused, excused mode settings, and prayer history shown in stats or calendar screens. This information is used to show your progress, heart/status visuals, and prayer completion history.

C. App Settings and Preferences

Qanit may store settings such as app language, theme or appearance settings, prayer calculation preferences, notification preferences, blocking preferences, and other app configuration settings. These settings help personalize your experience.

D. Notes or Custom Prayer Tasks

If the app allows you to enter notes, reminders, or custom prayer-related tasks, that content may be stored so it can be shown back to you inside the app. You are responsible for the content you choose to enter.

E. Selected Apps, Categories, or Websites for Blocking

If you enable app blocking, Qanit may use Apple’s Screen Time and Family Controls APIs to let you select apps, app categories, or web domains that should be limited during prayer windows. Qanit uses Apple frameworks such as FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, and ManagedSettings. These selections are used only to provide the app blocking feature.

Qanit does not see private content inside blocked apps. For example, Qanit does not read your messages, photos, social media content, browsing content, or private activity inside other apps.

F. Debugging and Blocking Logs

Qanit may store limited logs related to prayer reminders, blocking schedules, app state, or troubleshooting. These logs are used to help diagnose bugs, improve reliability, and support the blocking functionality.

G. Subscription and Purchase Information

Qanit may store subscription or purchase entitlement status to know whether your account or device has access to premium features. Payments, subscriptions, free trials, refunds, and billing are handled by Apple through App Store In-App Purchase and StoreKit. Qanit does not collect or store your full payment card information.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your personal data for advertising. We do not use your app blocking selections for advertising or profiling.

3. Notifications

Qanit may request notification permission to send prayer reminders, prayer-time alerts, blocking-related notices, or other app-related reminders. You can enable, disable, or adjust notifications at any time in your iOS settings.

4. Apple Screen Time / Family Controls

Qanit may request Family Controls or Screen Time permission so you can choose apps, categories, or websites to limit during prayer times. The blocking feature is optional.

When enabled, Qanit uses Apple’s system frameworks to apply limits during selected prayer windows. App blocking behavior depends on Apple’s APIs, iOS settings, device state, and system limitations. Qanit does not guarantee that blocking will always work perfectly in every situation.

5. Local Storage and App Group Container

Some information may be stored locally on your device. Some information may also be stored in an App Group container so the main app and its extensions can work together. This may include settings, blocking schedules, prayer tracking data, or other data needed for the app and extensions to function. Local storage helps Qanit work without requiring unnecessary external data transfer.

6. Data Sharing

Qanit does not sell your personal data. Qanit does not share your personal data with advertisers.

Qanit may share limited information only when necessary, such as with Apple for App Store purchases, subscriptions, refunds, and StoreKit functionality; when required by law; to protect rights, safety, or security; or with service providers if used in the future only as needed to operate the app.

If Qanit later uses third-party services that materially affect privacy, this Privacy Policy should be updated.

7. Purchases, Subscriptions, and StoreKit

Qanit may offer a free plan with limited features, premium subscriptions, free trials, lifetime purchases, or other in-app purchase options. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple may collect payment and account information according to Apple’s own privacy policy and terms. Qanit receives limited purchase status information, such as whether a subscription or lifetime purchase is active.

8. Prayer Times and Religious Disclaimer

Qanit provides prayer times based on location, settings, and calculation methods. Prayer times may vary depending on location accuracy, calculation method, local mosque guidance, local scholars or religious authorities, and local prayer time practices. Qanit is not a religious authority. Users are responsible for verifying prayer times according to their local mosque, scholar, or trusted authority when needed.

9. Children and Minors

Qanit is designed for users who want to manage prayer consistency and reduce distractions. Because Qanit may use Apple Family Controls / Screen Time APIs, some users may use the app in family or minor-related contexts. Users are responsible for using these features appropriately and in accordance with Apple’s rules, local laws, and family permissions.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has provided personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us at basilvisuals@gmail.com. Qanit does not knowingly sell or use children’s personal data for advertising.

10. Your Choices

You can control many privacy-related settings directly from your device, including location permission, notification permission, Screen Time / Family Controls permission, selected apps/categories/websites for blocking, app data where supported, and uninstalling the app to remove locally stored app data subject to iOS behavior. Some data may remain in device backups or Apple-managed purchase history according to Apple’s policies.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information used by the app. However, no app, system, or method of storage is completely secure. You use Qanit at your own risk and are responsible for protecting access to your device.

12. Data Retention

Qanit keeps information for as long as needed to provide the app’s features, maintain your settings, show prayer history, support purchases, or troubleshoot issues. Locally stored data may remain on your device until you delete it, reset it, or uninstall the app.

13. International Users

If you use Qanit outside your country of residence, your information may be processed according to the laws and systems applicable to your device, Apple account, and any services used by the app.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we may notify you through the app, website, or other reasonable means. The updated Privacy Policy will be effective when posted, unless stated otherwise.
